The Best U.S. Travel Destinations We Keep Coming Back To
We love new passport stamps but we also recognize that there’s cool places to see right here in the U.S. Whether you’re looking for great food, stunning landscapes, or unforgettable experiences, these domestic destinations have stolen our hearts (and keep us coming back for more).
Briana’s Picks: Where I’ll Never Say No To A Trip
Disney World, Florida
If this wasn’t at the top of my list, my mother would probably disown me. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve been, and yet it never gets old. I go there and I am immediately a 7 year old child. Except I get to drink because they are rapidly expanding their alcohol options. Even if you don’t care about the characters, you can’t help but have a great time. Even if you don’t care about the characters, the rides, the parades, or the nostalgia, the sheer magic of it all will still get you.
Don’t Miss:
Drinking around the world at Epcot (thank me later!)
Fireworks at Magic Kingdom (yes, they still make me emotional)
Pandora – The World of Avatar in Animal Kingdom (the detail is insane)
Sonoma Valley, California
The first time Jordan and I went to California wine country, we immediately decided it needed to be an annual trip. Having been to both Napa and Sonoma, I can confidently say Sonoma is my favorite. It’s a little less polished than Napa, but in the best way possible—it feels more laid-back and intimate. Plus, the vineyards are absolutely stunning.
Don’t Miss:
A private wine tasting at Jordan Winery (yes, I dragged Jordan there)
Sunset views at Viansa Sonoma
Exploring Healdsburg’s amazing restaurants and boutiques
New Orleans, Louisiana
This is another place I could visit every single year. NOLA has its own unique energy, a deep-rooted culture, and some of the best food in the U.S. And let’s not forget—you can take your drinks to go, which is perfect for slow drinkers like me.
Don’t Miss:
Beignets at Cafe du Monde (yes, the line is worth it)
Live jazz on Frenchmen Street
A ghost tour (because NOLA is nothing if not haunted)
Jordan’s Picks: My Go-To Domestic Getaways
New Orleans, Louisiana
Food.Food.Food. That’s it. That’s the message. There’s nothing better than a city where every single meal is an experience. From gumbo to po’boys to jambalaya, I could eat my way through New Orleans indefinitely.
Don’t Miss:
Crawfish étouffée at Mother’s
An airboat swamp tour to see the bayou up close
Bourbon Street for the chaos (and then Frenchmen Street for a chill escape)
Alexandria, Virginia
Old Town Alexandria is the perfect escape when I want something close to home but still feels like a getaway. It has everything I need: a spa with my favorite masseuse, incredible creole food (are we sensing a theme?), and a beautiful waterfront.
Don’t Miss:
Brunch at Magnolia’s on King
Strolling through the Torpedo Factory Art Center
A sunset cruise on the Potomac River
Honolulu, Hawaii
Hawaii is always a yes. Between the weather, the fresh seafood, and the breathtaking beaches, it’s pure paradise. And with multiple islands to explore, there’s always something new to see and do.
Don’t Miss:
Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay
A scenic drive along the North Shore
Hiking Diamond Head for incredible views
Washington, D.C.
I might be biased because I married a true Washingtonian (he literally has the flag to prove it), but D.C. is one of the most vibrant, lively cities in the U.S. No matter your vibe, there’s always something happening here.
Don’t Miss:
Brunch at Le Diplomate (the hype is real!)
The Smithsonian museums (free and so good)
Rooftop drinks overlooking the monuments
